People in the homes within a 300-foot radius of the 500 block of Highland Street had been evacuated due to the leak, emergency dispatchers told Daily Voice.
A gas line was struck by a construction crew in the area shortly after 11 a.m., dispatchers said.
No one was transported, according to emergency dispatchers.
The power was turned off and UGI temporarily cut off the gas service to the area as they worked to contain the issue, a company spokesperson told Daily Voice at the time.
The Swatara Township Police, Swatara Fire Rescue, and UGI were on the scene and were asking the public to avoid the area at 12:30 p.m., but about 15 minutes later the leak was contained, power was restored, and the people were allowed back into their homes, authorities said.
